Should I charge

Should I charge for practising Reiki?

Many Reiki healers are confused about whether they should charge money when using their gift to heal others. For many it is a pressing question especially if they wish to earn their living through the practice of Reiki as of course they need money to live etc.

One of the greatest teachings to come from healing was from Jesus Christ who was the greatest healer of all time. His healing was a gift to people, and he chose to share it and take what fate and his faith had to give to ensure he was clothed and fed, however for many this may not be a viable option.

Other arguments against charging for Reiki healing include those that state the energy used to heal a person is their own energy, so in essence they are being charged for something that belonged to them anyway. The healer is only used as a channel,

However it should be remembered that it is the healer who has the knowledge and ability to bring forth that energy and ensure it is used to heal the person.

Reiki is an art and a lot of time is spent in learning how to channel the universal energies by practitioners. A lot of money is probably spent on training materials such as books, DVD's and videos etc and though this money is well spent, it is money that could have been used for other purposes.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to personal choice as to whether you wish to charge for offering Reiki healing. It also depends on how much time you are able to devote to it. If it impinges on your regular employment to the point where your income and ability to pay your bills is severely affected then it may be time to seriously consider Reiki healing as a full time business.

You also need to consider where you will hold your Reiki sessions. Do you plan on visiting people in their own homes, (You need to consider travelling expenses if so), and will you need an office or a suitable venue to hold a clinic? These are all considerations that need to be well thought out.

Another thought to consider when thinking about charging for Reiki healing is the universal truth that most people don't think something has value unless it is paid for. Many things given away for free are often perceived as having no value because there was no monetary exchange.

Whether to charge for Reiki healing is only a matter you can decide for yourself, but remember whatever decision you come to, must sit comfortably on your shoulders for you to be able to practise the art effectively.
